Accomplishments

Positioned the Corporation to be able to take a proactive approach managing the overall profitability of the book of business in what has traditionally been a reactive market.

Increased automation resulted in a significant decrease in data entry mistakes resulting in six digit financial savings, and a measurable improvement in customer service.

Provided the Corporation with an unparalleled industry leading risk-profiling tool, via a custom designed Management Information environment.
 

Responsibilites
 

Recruited to manage the complete replacement of a Dbase III system with a custom built Underwriting, Claims Management and Finance environment. Successful completion of this role required conducting vendor research, complete contract negotiations, development of requirements via workflow gap analysis, creation of Visual Basic screen mock-ups, and the development and management of the project plan.

Updated the technology infrastructure to a Microsoft Advanced Server, XP/2000 Professional, Exchange/SQL 2000 and Great Plains Dynamics to support the new environment.

Managed a staff of fourteen, responsibilities included all aspects of the divisional technology and management information requirements, and the allocation of the resources assigned to complete work on the division’s behalf. 

Member of the Senior Management team charged with the development and execution of divisional strategy.

Accomplishments

Architected a web-based simplified Commercial Property Casualty Insurance product.

Project Manager, H.O. Commercial Division, Toronto        March 1998 - Nov. 1999

Responsibility extended to cover most aspects of IT development and user testing/deployment, and process re-engineering.

Coordinated the efforts of the multi-function team including Legal, IT, Finance and Human Resources on a potential acquisition with a Mutual Insurance Corporation. 

Accomplishments

Devised an innovative approach to Automobile Fleet rating, leading to a HUON implementation several years ahead of schedule.

Altered the direction of the initial release of the HUON development project to where the largest impact, with respect to expenses and customer service, could be achieved.

Commercial Marketing Manager, Central Canada, Ottawa     Oct. 1996 – March 1998

Managed a team of five geographically dispersed marketing representatives and twelve commercial property casualty and automobile underwriters.

Accomplishments

Developed the management information processes and marketing programs required for develop commercial property casualty business. 

Managed the transition of the regional portfolio of small commercial business to a centralized call centre facility.

Requested and was granted a two year secondment to the Western Canada office.  Completed a customized Commercial Property Casualty Underwriting program. 

Accomplishments

Re-introduced marketing presence in Southern Alberta and British Columbia.  Developed approach to manage profitability and growth of small commercial business.

Completed a six-month secondment focused in the impacts of empowering a traditional white-collar workforce and creating the groundwork for a new culture.

Overall responsibility for the 1000 plus desktop computers and corporate security.
