Initiated and brought to charter, an Aeroplan Infinite Privilege credit card refresh project.

Initiation and charter delivery for a project that will replace the Investment Advisor’s Prudential based Wealth Management System with a solution provided by Envestnet.

Working with Capital Markets executives, led the Initiation, project estimation, and initial execution of a project that delivered a Capital Markets US dollar based Equity Linked Note product via Broadridge, FIS and RBC internal systems.

Primary liaison between the bank’s technology/business groups and a vendor that was contracted to create a 5-year architectural roadmap for WebBroker, the outcome of which was to position WebBroker to be able to deliver faster, more robust enhancements, support tablets, etc.

Managed a series of projects on the bank’s WebBroker discount brokerage product from initiation to deployment. Projects had $9 million in total expenditure and were primarily focused on a graphical refresh of primary pages, integration of new web services, interstitial/targeted messaging capabilities, and a hardware infrastructure capacity uplift.

Created initiation and charter estimates for a project to enable US dollar based RSP transactions in the bank’s Mobile/Tablet, WebBroker, and online banking tools, and oversaw project execution.

Primary liaison between the bank’s technology/business groups and a vendor that was contracted to create a 5-year architectural roadmap for WebBroker, the outcome of which was to position WebBroker to be able to deliver faster, more robust enhancements, support tablets, etc.

Completed a rescue on a project to upgrade the bank’s multifaceted authentication toolset.

Managed the charter estimation process for the ATM cheque imaging transformation program and initiated and delivered project initiation and charter level estimates for a targeted marketing program in the ATM channel.

Managed the requirements creation and charter estimation process on a Pega based secure messaging Oracle 11G and WAS 7 upgrade.

Oversaw the final design and delivery of a strategic upgrade to the GTAA’s financial systems utilizing web services, message broker flows and PL SQL to capture, calculate and load the information required to offer the airlines billing based on services consumed.

Created the project planning processes for and oversaw the execution of the airport’s 2011 initiatives and 3 year strategic roadmap.

Rescued the airport operations master dispatch communications project that was more than a year behind schedule and significantly over budget.

NCP/Allstate Insurance Canada,  Markham, ON                   June 2006 - June 2008
Senior Program Manager

 

Initially Recruited to manage the Project Control Office for a program overseeing the customization of claims and policy packages for Allstate Insurance Canada. After five months assumed a leadership role of a team of program/project managers responsible for requirements creation, parameterization and development of the SOA based policy, billing, finance, reports, interface and documentation programs.

Managed a team of program and project managers and over saw the creation and ongoing maintenance of an integrated project plan.

Oversaw the final phases of the creation and user acceptance of 50 plus design documents ensuring they met business and architectural requirements for the first phase of the program.

Devised and executed a re-organization of the program structure with the primary goal of positioning the organization to be self-sufficient as we moved from the first phase of a SOA web based fully bilingual system to the 14 remaining phases.

Recruited a team of cobol/java developers and business analysts to allow us to undertake maintenance and future enhancements of the system from the vendor, much earlier than planned.

Recognized the need for, designed, and oversaw the creation of a suite of automated testing tools to assist with the rapid deployment of the program.

Participated and or directed the discussions related to the short and long term resource allocation of the program’s 120+ resources.

Revised the program’s requirements documentation templates to contain all the necessary information in one document. Added a requirements traceability matrix and conducted the business analysis for and authored the Umbrella requirements to test the completeness of the new process.

Implemented a program wide collaboration tool (Sharepoint) to manage the documentation and a time tracking tool (Replicon) to assist with the estimation process.

Completed the analysis of and re-stated the program’s past financial expense capitalization and future direction of the same.

Interacted daily with Allstate’s executive team, providing consultation on a wide range of topics including vendor and scope management, quality control, program direction and team building.

Hired to create a formal project management process within the corporation; oversee planning and execution of projects undertaken by the organization; and build/mentor the Business Analysis team.
 

Accomplishments
 


Developed and executed an adaptive project planning approach based on an Agile Development methodology, to deliver a full suite of creditor and direct based life insurance systems for TD Bank, designed to position them for the potential forthcoming bank act changes.

Primary client relationship manager contact for the day-to-day execution of a Domino/Java/DB2 development project with a budget in excess of $5 M, and co-authored the Statement of Work.

Conducted initial round of business analysis for the underwriting module for a creditor based life insurance system.

Oversaw hiring of all staff (business analysts, developers, production support and quality assurance) as the organization executed a significant expansion.

PROJECT MANAGER (Contract Role)

 

Oversee all aspects of development projects based on ASP.net/SQL and Server 2000 including contract negotiation, functional design, actual development, testing and implementation, for a Microsoft Gold Partner.
 

Accomplishments
 


The implementation of an e-catalogue for a large wholesale organization which included scripted automation with Adobe InDesign, daily products inventory import from a Unix data warehouse, and storage of the final catalogue pages with extended meta data in SharePoint.

Developed a business plan for a SOA web service based address validation tool including a SWOT analysis and competitive marketplace review, and drafted a legal contract for its usage.

Coordinated the firm’s efforts with respect to winning Microsoft Competencies, and Gold Partner re-certification.

Consulted on various projects and co-presented seminars on business score carding and team collaboration.


Provincial Treasury, Province of PEI,  Charlottetown, PEI                   Jan 2003 - July 2004
PROJECT MANAGER (Contract Role)

Spearheaded several projects for Provincial Taxing Authority encompassing sales, property, and fuel taxes as well as land registration with the ultimate goal of delivering enterprise data to the web.

Increased automation resulted in a significant decrease in data entry mistakes resulting in six digit financial savings, and a measurable improvement in customer service.

 

Accomplishments
 

Oversaw all aspects of the rewrite of the province’s PowerBuilder based land registration environment replacing it with a web based J2EE/Oracle platform used to register in excess of 20 000 mortgages, conveyances and deeds a year.

Implemented an image repository based on a J2EE-Oracle 9IAS/database platform, currently annually scanning 100 000+ pages of mortgages, conveyances and deeds, all of which are available to be viewed by the general public via a web browser.

Successfully headed the rapid deployment of a province-wide strong matrix based VB6/Oracle Property Assessment/Taxation System which assessed and taxed 108 000 parcels of land and generated annual revenue of $110 M, resulting in a new customer focused and efficient system.

Synchronized thinking skills with strong technical background to develop specifications for the province’s first electronic land survey index mitigating the province’s liability from having only a single paper copy of surveys. Once implemented, the images were available via a web browser.

Provided consulting expertise to the Tax Commissioner on overall strategy spanning customer management, systems integration, and sales tax collection while architecting a CRM based single point of entry to all taxation systems for the general public.

Positioned the Corporation to be able to take a proactive approach managing the overall profitability of the book of business in what has traditionally been a reactive market.

Accomplishments
 

Recruited to manage the complete replacement of a Dbase III system with a custom built Underwriting, Claims Management and Finance environment. Successful completion of this role required conducting vendor research, complete contract negotiations, development of requirements via workflow gap analysis, creation of Visual Basic screen mock-ups, and the development and management of the project plan.

Updated the technology infrastructure to a Microsoft Advanced Server, XP/2000 Professional, Exchange/SQL 2000 and Great Plains Dynamics to support the new environment.

Architected a web-based simplified Commercial Property Casualty Insurance product.

Responsibility extended to cover most aspects of IT development and user testing/deployment, and process re-engineering.

Coordinated the efforts of the multi-function team including Legal, IT, Finance and Human Resources on a potential acquisition with a Mutual Insurance Corporation.

Devised an innovative approach to Automobile Fleet rating, leading to a HUON implementation several years ahead of schedule.

Altered the direction of the initial release of the HUON development project to where the largest impact, with respect to expenses and customer service, could be achieved.

Managed a team of five geographically dispersed marketing representatives and twelve commercial property casualty and automobile underwriters.

Developed the management information processes and marketing programs required for develop commercial property casualty business. 

Managed the transition of the regional portfolio of small commercial business to a centralized call centre facility.
